Common Snapping Turtle
The Common Snapping Turtle is found through much of North America, and is a fearsome beast when caught on land! However most of us want to help it out when found crossing a road, which is when most of us get bit! Rather than stuff a limb in it's face (in the hopes it will bite the stick so it can be drug off the road), pull it by it's tail (which will most likely dislocate it's vertebrae), or attempt to carry it to safety (it's got a looong neck), it is far better for all concerned to simply protect the turtle as it crosses the road under it's own power! Why pick up an animal that can weigh 75 pounds, has long claws that cut deep, and can bite ALMOST anywhere you will attempt to grab it!
