Western Rat Snake
The Western Rat Snake is a common snake of the eastern half of North America. Given it's wide distribution this species has many many common names; names such as Rat Snake, Black Rat Snake, Pilot Snake, and Chicken Snake are but a few of it's monikers. Whatever you prefer to call this extremely beneficial snake it should be called "friend", and left to go about it's rat killing!
