Feral Hogs
Feral Hogs are just that, hogs which have escaped captivity. A hog running loose is a natural disaster. At six-months a feral hog is sexually mature. A sow can have two litters per year, and each litter can have ten piglets! Those millions of feral hogs then eat everything that the native animals need. Unfortunately these pests are now firmly entrenched in a huge portion of North America. Removing them will be near-impossible. Take the time to read Smithsonian Magazine's article "A Plague of Pigs In Texas" which can be found at http://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/a-plague-of-pigs-in-texas-73769069/ The better you know how destructive these animals are, the better informed you are when it comes to the management of these rouge animals.

Most feral hogs are black or grizzled gray, but not all. Almost all have a straight tail, rather than curled like a domestic, and an elongated snout. It seems that all is needed for the appearance to change, from domestic to feral, is a generation!
