Snowshoe Hare
The white "rabbit" of the North, is not always white...nor is it a rabbit! Some call it the Varying Hare as it changes from summer brown to winter white each year, in an attempt to blend in with it's surroundings. As for the difference between Rabbits and Hares; Rabbit are born blind hairless while Hares are born with hair and are able to see. There, aren't you glad you asked!

I caught this Snowshoe out looking for a bite to eat. Unfortunately for a white bunny in a colored world, he could be the bite to eat! This is the time of the year this species is the most vulnerable to predation.
