Desert Cottontail
Rabbits of all kinds are the "chicken" of the predator's world. Everything, and I mean everything, is out to have them for lunch. I have seen Bobcats, Coyotes, Great Horned Owls and more having Rabbit for lunch. It's a good thing we have so many kinds of Rabbits, and so many individual Rabbits; otherwise a good portion of the natural world would go hungry!

on October 10, 2022As a kid growing up in rural southeastern Oklahoma I was taught to look for rabbits by looking not for the animal, but the eye; that big round eye. That advice is as good today as it was forty years ago. The next time you are out there, try finding a rabbit...just look for the eye!
