Short-tailed Weasel
I was photographing Pikas when this fellow came along. As usual for it's species, this guy was moving quick, checking each and every crook and nanny for a meal. I slowed the creature down by squeaking like a mouse. That did it! Here he came. He checked out my tripod, my boots, and the inside of my camera bag! The only problem with being that close, was that I was too close to photograph the critter! So I would quit squeaking until he was outside my minimum focus range, and grab a few more shots. Then I would have to squeak him back in before he left for good. I called him back three times! That last time set this high strung animal off! He was bouncing straight up and down - in place, bouncing off boulders like a rubber ball, spinning in circles.....all the while with his mouth wide open! I was witnessing the killing frenzy Weasels are so famous for! I was very happy these guys weigh about a third of a pound; anything larger would have scared me!
