The Round-tailed Ground Squirrel is a very small (less than 5 ounces) ground squirrel of the desert southwest United States and northern Mexico. Their small size, and that round tail, are their claim to fame! Otherwise, this species is fairly nondescript. Nondescript or not, they add life to the desert, and I am happy they are there.
