The California Ground Squirrel may be a "Californian" by name, but it is spreading through a good portion of the western United States. In fact it has expanded it's range north into Oregon, south into Baja California, and east into Washington and northwestern Nevada. In short, the species is prolific and aggressive. Those characteristics usually serve the species in question well, but may bode ill to the resident species!
