Bobcats
This little wildcat is found over much of North America. In the not to distant past thirteen sub-species were recognized. Today only two distinct sub-species are recognized, those that live east of the Great Plains and those that live west of the Great Plains. Whichever one you get to see count yourself lucky as these cats may be common across much of North America however it is uncommon to see one!

on October 10, 2022This curious Bobcat was half-heartedly hunting Desert Cottontails and Gambel Quail just a few yards from the Visitor Center at the Sonny Bono Salton Sea National Wildlife Refuge in California. This cat, and it's sibling, were always moving, but never in a hurry. Possibly that lackadaisical approach is the reason why I never saw them make a serious attempt at catching a meal during the few hours I watched them!
