Grizzly Bears of Alaska's North Slope
If the word "Grizzly" commands respect, then the words "Barren Ground Grizzly" command the utmost respect! These are the bears of the barren grounds. The ones which walk many many miles between meals. I have seen bears that were specks in the distance, but came to me...just to see if I was something good to eat! Do you think I am exaggerating!? I am not. More than one of these bruins have came to me, making photography easy. Easy as long as I control the shakes, which I am not always successful at doing!

on April 29, 2023If you are ever up the Haul Road in Alaska stop at the bottom of the south side of Atigun Pass, and have a look at these two posts. You will find claw marks and hair, signs that each passing Grizzly leave to mark their passing. A bear sign post.
