Axis Deer
The Axis Deer is native to India, Sri Lanka, and a handful of other countries in that region of the world, but were introduced to Texas in 1932. They are now self-sustaining in approximately 30 counties of Texas. The Edwards Plateau seems to be "ground central" for this species in Texas as the terrain there is quite similar to their native lands.

Axis Deer bucks, or stags, do not grow antlers by the season, such as the North American deer family. They grow antlers by their birth date, which results in bucks without antlers, in velvet, and with "hard horns"; all at the same time!
