The Greater Roadrunner is a bird of hot environs, the same habitat of it's favorite prey...reptiles. This bird is focused. That focus, that intensity, makes for a very successful predator. Their ability to concentrate while searching an area for prey, and their knack to kill efficiently, causes me to wonder how any lizard or snake can exist in the American West!
