California Quail
The California Quail is a quail of the far western portion of North America, and is found from the tip of Baja California to the southern portions of British Columbia. Though it is found as far north as southern Canada I generally think of it as an American Southwest species. Maybe now that I have seen the bird on San Juan Island in Washington I can recognize it for what it is, a successful quail species.
