Red-bellied Woodpecker
The Red-bellied Woodpecker is a common woodpecker in the eastern half of the contiguous United States. Common or not, this bird demands any curious person's attention given it's striking plumage and rolling call! It also deserves are help, from invasive European Starlings. In some areas of this woodpecker's range the European Starling takes over as many as 50% of the Red-bellied Woodpeckers nests. Help defend all native cavity-nesters from Starlings.
