Say's Phoebe
Though Say's Phoebe is a bit drab in color, there is nothing drab about it's presence. It is always a pleasure to watch these birds sallie forth from their observation post and snatch an insect from mid-air. Their near constant action makes a nature walk through the deserts and grasslands of western North America just that much more pleasurable.

I photographed this Say's Phoebe as it rested in the shade of one of the many trees in Las Vegas' Wetlands Park. Yes, Las Vegas has a wetlands. Like many cities, the park is part of the muni's efforts to reclaim water; these parks are always a magnet for animals.
