Spotted Towhee
The Spotted (formerly the Rufous-sided) Towhee is found from southern Canada, through much of the western United States, southward to Guatemala. Wherever you find this western bird it will be on the ground, scratching out a living in thickets along forest edges. Luckily this large sparrow is not to secretive, and is commonly seen searching for seeds in yards and gardens everywhere. Their songs aren't much, but they are fun to watch!
