Pyrrhuloxia/Cardinal Hybrid
The Pyrrhuloxia is often called the Desert Cardinal given it's close physical resemblance to the Northern Cardinal. Though in the same family as the Northern Cardinal, the Pyrrhuloxia is it's own species; a species found along the southwestern United States border with Mexico. The Desert Cardinal is usually gray in body, with a bone-colored parrot-like beak. The Northern Cardinal is red in body, with a red beak. Then there are hybrids, such as this male...which really confuse the heck out of me!
