Common or Northern Raven
The "Common" Raven; a not so common bird! These guys are playful, smart, and a joy to watch. These birds have been observed sliding down snow banks and playing chase with other species, such as dogs and wolves. Many cultures in the north-western United States and Alaska have included them in many of their stories given the birds intelligence (they are proven problem solvers). But if you really want to see them at their best, watch their courtship flights. These guys fly in loops, upside down, and drop like a rock while locking talons! It is easy to see why these birds are so recognizable by so many cultures around the world.
