Black-billed Magpie
The Black-billed Magpie is one of four songbird species in North America whose tail makes up half or more of the bird's total body length. This bird, noted for it's egg and chick theft, takes no chances with it's own eggs and young. They build a massive nest, with a dome over it! One has to wonder how long tails and domed nests came together in the same species!

I photographed this Black-billed Magpie nest on Antelope Island in the Great Salt Lake. It is one of the more massive nests I have ever seen! How massive? More than four foot in height!
