American Goldfinch
The American Goldfinch is one of the more brightly colored birds in North America. They are also one of the more common birds we see each summer across many of the States and Provinces. Since these birds are strict vegetarians they wait until late June and early July to nest, just to make sure their young have all the seeds they need. Yes that is right, they raise their young on seeds, not insects as so many other birds do.
