Short-eared Owls
Short-eared Owls are most often seen cruising over open grasslands using that irregular wing beat that causes many to compare the bird's flight pattern as bat, or moth-like. That flying style causes many to think these are slow birds, but they are not. Though mainly rodent hunters they also prey on birds as large as Gulls! "Slow-moe" flyers or not, this species has managed to spread around the globe and are found on every continent but Antarctica and Australia.
