The Great Egret is a magnificent bird in that it almost as large as the Great Blue Heron, and is a pure white...except in breeding season. Then it adds a neon face and those wonderful aigrettes! This gorgeous bird is quite the treat when raising their young in that they are large, noisy, and conspicuous. And they nest in colonies. Just the kind of activity that keeps my head swiveling like a periscope! Action everywhere!
