Bald Eagles, Mature
Though the Bald Eagle is primarily a fish eater, I have seen it take other prey such as waterfowl. It also eats carrion (I have seen a pair of Bald Eagles stroll out of the belly of a dead spike bull Elk looking quite full and happy with themselves). In short, this bird is a survivor.

I photographed this Bald Eagle in the late evening light as it guarded it's nest. Unfortunately it's nest tree was cut down that fall, after the young fledged. Why? The nest was too close to the Anchorage Airport north-south runway and was deemed a safety hazard.
