The Horned Grebe nests in the remote areas of the North American continent (Alaska and Western Canada), Europe, and Asia. Some of the "common" names given to this bird, especially in Europe, are quite colorful. Names such as Slavonian Grebe, Water Witch, Devil Diver, and Pink-eyed Diver. Wow! Some of those are head-scratchers, others make at least a little sense! Most of the photos below were taken of a breeding pair, with the rising sun "flaming" the water. One can't get much more colorful than that!
