I never get tired of watching Pelicans in flight. I am especially impressed with the fact they can lift their very large bodies free of the water, with just a few flaps of the wings, then immediately dive for fish. And then do it again, and again. The energy they must be expending in those short take-off, immediate dive, must be tremendous. However, it is their signature flight that defines this species, when a flock glides low along the breaking waves. That formation immediately tells even the least knowledgeable of us we are looking at a Pelican!
