This photo, and the next one, were taken in Denali National Park during a September 2009 trip. That fall we saw many many Snowshoe Hares, who had eaten themselves out of house and home. This Hare was climbing the brush to eat bark. Notice that the bark has been pulled from these shrubs at great height already, which means there will that much less to eat once snow falls.
