Tracey Harmon  > Mammals > Moose > Bulls, Hard Antlered, Standing
Bull Moose are a "common" animal to many of us Alaskans; but common or not, they never fail to stop me in my tracks. The mature bulls are huge, especially when they are in their prime. Ungainly looking, yet they move with an incredible grace belying their bulk. Dim looking (with those small eyes), yet they manage to make themselves scarce instantly whenever something is looking for Moose steaks! One can't help but admire them.

Tracey Harmon > If you look closely at this bull Moose' antlers you will see blood stains, which indicates he has just recently shed his velvet.
Tracey Harmon > If you look closely at this bull's right antler you will see a bullet hole through the palm! Someone had most likely backed this bull up by putting a round through his antler!
Tracey Harmon > Focused on the rutting herd in front of me, I was caught by surprise by this young bull Moose when he popped over the rise above me. Fortunately he paused to survey the action, giving me a few moments to grab this shot before I scurried out of his way.
Tracey Harmon > This bull Moose came charging through the alder thicket behind him when he heard me making my way through the tangle. He seemed greatly disappointed to find me, rather than a cow.

Tracey Harmon > Nothing like running into a large rut-crazed bull Moose when taking a late evening short cut through an alder thicket!

Tracey Harmon > A very large bodied bull Moose stands looking for a receptive cow.
Tracey Harmon > This big bull was "walking and talking"; grunting as he searched for cows.
Tracey Harmon > Though I know this may sound a bit odd to some, all I can think when I look at this photo is, "there is nothing better looking than a large sun-bathed bull Moose in a sea of fall grass".
Tracey Harmon > My shooting partner and I were walking out; calling it quits. It was spitting snow, the heavy cloud cover had thoroughly dampened the light all day, and we had failed to locate a large bull. And then the moment! The sun peaked through a tiny slit between the horizon and the thick gray clouds, bathing everything in golden light for a magical few minutes; including this magnificent bull Moose that simply, literally, appeared from nowhere! If you can't be good, be lucky! This bull looks particularly good when printed on metallic paper!
Tracey Harmon > This very large mature bull Moose was not aggressive towards me in the least, but his very size commands respect!
Tracey Harmon > I caught this very large bull Moose stepping out of cover on a warm sunny fall evening in south-central Alaska.
